🌿 Wisdom Wednesday: Body Hygiene as Ritual

🌿 Wisdom Wednesday: Body Hygiene as Ritual

By Dr. Nakia Davis | Strength In Her | Sacred Bloom Journal Series

Body hygiene is more than staying clean — it’s about how we layer care with intention to support balance, moisture, and overall skin health.

Just like facial care, the body responds best to gentle, consistent routines rather than harsh or rushed practices. This is why body care should be treated as a ritual, not a routine.

✨ Start with the Double Cleanse

The body benefits from cleansing in layers:

  • First cleanse: Use a gentle antibacterial soap (such as Castile soap or Dial) to help remove bacteria, sweat, and daily buildup.
  • Second cleanse: Follow with a moisturizing cleanser (fragrance of your choice) and  a shower oil to support the skin barrier and prevent dryness.

This approach allows you to cleanse effectively while still caring for your skin’s natural balance.

✨ Moisturize Using the LOC Method

The LOC method (Liquid, Oil, Cream) isn’t just for hair — it works beautifully for the skin as well.

  • Liquid: Step out of the shower and do not fully towel-dry. Applying products to damp skin allows moisture to stay on the surface.
  • Oil: Apply a nourishing oil to seal in that water and prevent moisture loss. One of my personal favorites is Brown Sugar Babe oil collection. They smell divine.
  • Cream: Finish with a moisturizer to lock everything in and support the skin barrier. A few of my favorite body creams are Fenty, EOS and Body Glaze.

This method helps the skin stay hydrated, soft, and balanced — especially during colder months.

✨ My Personal Body Care Ritual

A few times a week, I incorporate gentle exfoliation using Sacred Rose Glow or Citrus Glow to support skin renewal.

I finish my routine with body oil and Sacred Bloom Serenity/Citrus Radiance Yoni Oil, honoring whole-body care as part of intentional feminine care.

When care is layered with intention, the body responds differently.

Body hygiene isn’t about doing more — it’s about doing what supports you well.
